49 8N My earlier post stated "blow by from the manifold gasket" Now in the day light I haved determined water sizzling out from the head gasket. Boy did I screw up with the MMO. Completly my fault not the product. I suppose this means a more major repair eh?

I still do not see how putting one extra quart of oil blew your head gasket. I would say it was a coincidence. Either way, replacing a head gasket is easy work.

Ratzie..... .what is so intimidating about replacing the headgasket??? ($20, cheap). Eaziest done with hood removed by 2nd helper. My 9yo son helped me, he's now 25 and 2000mi away engineering at Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio. Check yer flathead for warp, don't know how? Takker into automotive machine shop where they check'em all the time and then mill the head flat ($20, cheap)..... ..Dell

Dell, I appreciate your candid replies. I am going to try and replace it my self. Maybe your boy could help me I am in Hillsdale county MI. a little closer than you. ;>) As far as checking the flat head for warp. Do i take just the "head" or the whole engine? Sorry for the remedial question. But I don't know. What else should I do while I have it off? Also do you suppose my screw up with the MMO caused this? Or do you think it was going to happen enny ways? I know you don't mind read And I do not think I want to talk to your Ex ;>) So just a stab in the dark for my simple mind. Thanks Rick T.

Ratzie..... ...dang, must be slippin' in my descrptions. "takker into auto machineshop", meaning take just the cylinderhead into an automotive machine shop. They check cylinderheads for "warp" all the time. Its a very common occurrence with aluminum heads used on rice-rockets.

I could tell you how to use a "carpenters framing square" to edge across the head and look for light under the square edge, you see lite? its warped. And you can't un-warp it with hand tools. That is what a milling machine does. Maximum allowable "skim" is 0.060" (which is a lot)..... ...Dell
