Why would I NOT want to connect the bush hog top link to the top hole in my 3 hole rocker if I only use it to transport it. Be gentle with me, I'm old.

From Zane:

"The three hole top link rocker was designed to be used in the upper holes only when using the tractor for light draft implements. Mainly the 11 shank row crop cultivator in light soil conditions. To use the top holes for anything other is to ask for trouble. Even when using it for the row crop cultivator in the top hole it can damage the lift linkage draft mode if the implement hits somethink like a big rock or stump etc. The added leverage of using the top holes will allow the impact load to bend the internal linkage such as the draft plunger and even the control rod can be bent from shock loads when the top holes are used.
Don't use the top holes!

Zane"

Dan

Well, OK, but wouldn't a bush hog be a light load when down and mowing? Could I get away with the load incurred during transport? Would bouncing count? This is of course IYHO.

I learn something new here every day about my NAA.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to unhook the finish mower from the top and move it down.

The top hole on the three-point rocker was intended ONLY for light draft tillage equipment. DO NOT use it for plowing, mowing, discing, etc. Check the "50 Tips" section on yer left.

Those are some darn good tips! Glad I read that.

I'm guilty of never turning off my fuel shut-off, going against Tip #9. His scenario of the O-pan filling with gas should change that.

third party image

yer pulling a heavy implement hooked to yer top hole. Ya hit something hard. Ya hear a low, subtle "thunk" & yer lift falls. What tha... ya go back to the shop & pull the lift cover & ya find this...
