Hi Guys.

This doesn't pertain to anything in particular; I was just ruminating about the number of postings lately about limiter chains. I got tired of having to find a lower anchoring point for the chains on whatever implement I was using at the time, so I improvised. Now, all you purists, just close your eyes and don't look at this sacrilege! What I did was drill out the rivets on the little clips on the lift arms which used to hold the lynch pins (they were squashed anyway, and I keep normally keep a set of pins in each implement) and made a tab out of 1/4" x 1 1/2" strap for each arm. The tab is about 1" taller than the lift arm at that point. I drilled a 3/8" hole above the arm on each tab, then bolted the tabs to the arms using the rivet holes. I anchor the chains to the tabs using little clevises. I replaced the normal cotter pins in the clevises with hairpin clips to make changeover easier. I've used this method for several years now, and really like it. FYI. Ron

Great idea, Ron! To my way of thinking, if it's a working tractor (as my 8N is), anything goes to make the job easier. I just save whatever original stuff I remove for later when I, or someone else, may choose to restore it to original condition.

Thanks for the tip.

Jerry,

Glad to help! I'd hate to see what they'd say if they knew where I moved the starter switch for the 12-volt system..... . Ron
