My 2N has no power. It will no longer run the brush hog in 1st gear when the grass is of any length. It used to do well in this area. The engine will rev to normal rpms but it does take longer and has a missing sound. it has always had a small missing sound but it may be a little more now hard to tell. I have looked at the archives and the governer is operating. The carb has something called a power adjuster. I think it is the big screw on the side. Does this affect the power to any extent?

Thanks in advance for your help.

First thing to do is check your spark at all the plugs. You may have one or 2 fouled out plugs. If you have good spark at all of them then try your main jet adjustment open it just a little at a time. If chokeing it helps it could be the carb or it could also be weak spark

go to the main throtle adjusting screw on top of carb, and turn it one full turn counter clockwise and see if it runs better. RP

2newbe; Before you mess around with any "tweekums" on your 2N, Go to the Lft. side, top of this page, where it says tractor manuals. Click on that, and order a manual. ($24.95 cheap.
Get the I&T FO-4 aftermarket Service/Repair manual. That will tell you, and show you pics of most anything you will need to know about fixing your 2N, 9N, or 8N.

Have fun, Do it right!!!
Gary

Have you recently done a tune up? If so make sure that you didn't switch the plug wires for cylinders 3 and 4.
