I just acquired a 1946 2N tractor. The only bad leak I have comes from the plate that hold the pivot shaft that holds the hydraulic lift (left side axle). I can pull the nut off the threaded shaft to the rear of the shaft, but can't get the shaft and plate off. Is their an easy fix for this? Or do I have to pull the entire axle off? Is there a nut/cotter pin/ or something else on the back of the shaft?

P1J1..... ..yes, unfortunately, there is a cotter-keyed castellated NUT INSIDE yer rearaxle trumpet that is LEAKING. Tighten to 150ft/lbs. You haffta take yer rear trumpet OFF. Which means you haffta take yer brakes off, which means you haffta take yer 300# tire off, yadda-yadda.

Surprisingly, this has been asked and answered many times, you might want to check the "archives" at the TOP of this great NBoard.

Suggest you squander $25 (cheap) for the I&T FO-4 maintenance repair manual which has instructions and pictures for the mechanically challenged..... ..respectfully, Dell
