The sure seals we bought will not fit in. When we try with a 3 in piece of pvc pipe to pound them in one side will slip in and the other will be stuck. Any hints on how to get them in is thankfully taken.

I found the 3" pipe did not quite allow it to sit on the flat landing of the sure seal, it rode up a bit on the cone. I beveled the end of the PVC pipe on the sure seal side a tad with my Dremel tool so it would sit flush with the flat landing on the seal. This allowed me to "tip" the pipe to the one side that was giving me trouble going in and apply more pressure to that side. Also - you can't be gentle with these or you will never get them started.

BTW - did you make sure to grease your bearings good before installing the sure seal?

Good luck,
Dan

You will need to grind the outer leading edge of the seal to a taper to get it to start. Something less than 20% taper or about 3/16 inch back from the edge.
