Still looking for N.O.S./used Sherman high compression 7.5/1 aluminum head for my 1952 Ford 8N side mount distributor. This part has become "In search of the Holy Grail" of the Ford N series tractor's. Anyone out there with information and/or the current whereabouts of this unique item will be appreciated.

Check with Steve Bastardi at 8nfever.com. He may still have an extra Sherman head. Be aware those heads were made only for the front distributor tractors. The oil filter mounting holes are in the wrong place and there is no place to bolt on the coil bracket for a side distributor engine.

John Smith8n, Thanks for the info., I did go to the Smith site and no listing for the Sherman heads, but will make an inquiry via email hoping that item is tucked away in a dusty corner. If possible I'll drill and tap mounting holes for oil filter and coil bracket.

bizkit,
Before you get any worthwhile rise in compression, the head will have "issues" with the valves and cylinder. {:o(

Dan...yes I did have the head, which I offered to sell to you at what I thought was a reasonable price.[300.00]You declined the offer and my son,Derek decided he would buy it from me at that price. You called back in about a week and said you wanted it,after I sold it to Derek.I told you it was not for sale.Later, someone on this board offered 500.00 for one,so I then ask Derek if he wanted to sell and he says yes for that amount. You got upset with me about the head and questioned my integerity.
Since Derek owns the head,I no longer have any say what so ever about whether he sells it or not,or if he does sell it,what the price may be.I will say that I did ask him again this morning if he wanted to sell, and he said no.Hope this clears up our little misunderstanding. don b

I'll just keep turning over rocks until I find that Sherman alloy head. My "Pappy" is a old "throttle jammer" and I too was bitten by the bug 45 years ago. Modifications and bumping up performance has even trickled down to my Ford 8N. Currently I have a 1941 Lincoln V12 engine on a stand with a Ford 8N hood/grill assembly in mock-up form with intentions of building another Ford 8N/Lincoln V12 conversion package.
