The last thing I tried was "bench testing" the starter with a known good battery. Clamped it down, hooked up the jumper cables, & NUTTIN! "Means the starter is dead"; right? Well, I got pistoff ( Russian for angry ) & put it in the bed of the truck, along with the btty for load testing when I get to town. Came in the house for supper, & it hit me... THE BUSS-BAR!!! Went back out, clamped the starter down, removed the relay, cleaned the buss-bar, reinstalled, jumped it & ZZZINNNG! By this time,I'm feeling pretty sure of myself, so I put it & the battery back on the tractor, & VROOOM! Whodathunkit! Just saved myself a good chunk of change!

thanx for the note of confidence. I "pecked at it" for over a week & was about to give up. I don't know what made me check the Buss-Bar. I found no referrence to it in the archives, & as far as I know, no one mentioned it. But I WON'T forget it! Bottom line: when it comes to getting yer connections "clean, bright & tight", make sure ya get ALL of them... even the Buss-Bar!
