On my Ford 9N, I just discovered that I could raise the 3 point by engaging the lever on the left side. Now I don't know how to lower it back down.

On a 9N the hydraulic pump for the lift and the PTO shaft are run together. The lever on the left engages/disengages both. The lever on the right is to raise and lower the lift arms. This PTO/hydraulic combination is the biggest flaw in the 9N design. It's what necessitates the use of an over running coupler when running a mower off the PTO. The inertia of the mower blade will power the differential which is behind the clutch. The end result is that without the ORC when you push the clutch down to stop what you do is disengage the engine from the differential but the mower's inertia keeps pushing the tractor forward and the brakes on a 9N just aren't strong enough to stop the machine.

Otto..... .the lever behind yer left heel, is the PTO engagement. The PTO powers yer internal hydraulic pump. Iff'n the pump ain't pumpin', guess what??? the 3-point don't lift when you lift the lever by yer right hipbone. It should be intuitively obvious, Lower the Hy-Trol lever by yer right hipbone and the 3-point arms should lower. Isn't that amazing?..... ..respectfully, Dell

"C Allis", huh?

Maybe that's the problem! At one time or other, I've owned an "XT-190" a couple of "WC's", and a "G", but NEVER a "C Allis"!

How'd ya like the G?

I only use mine for parade runs now.. got a cute little flag for it and magnetic plaque and all... made a real cream puff out of it.... I'm sure it would rather be doing real work though..

The "G" had worn steering I never attended to, and a few other "issues", so it wasn't my favorite tractor.

We had had a cultivator, a 2-row planter, a sickle mower, and a rotary mower for it, but changing attachments was not an easy, quick process, so usually it was just used with the cultivator.

Someone made me a GOOD offer, at a time I needed money, so it was sold. I often wish I had it back, though, or a "hulk" with a bad engine, as I have a little ISUZU diesel that REALLY wants to live in an Allis "G".

The G's really take will to isuzu diesels too.

I know a fellow a bit north of me who did specialized G retro fits..They looked sweet.
