I just changed the hydraulic fluid in my1952 8N.
befor i did this the hydrauilcs would get stuck in upwardposition with no weight. I had to push down on them with tractor bucket to lower.
So now Ichanged the fluid and when i tried the hydraulics they only went up and stayed up.
They are so locked tight upward.
I dont have a bucket to force them down so any ideas?
I am lost and need this tractor to operate correctly.
Please HELP!!!

When mine was froze in the upper position it ended up being the relief valve. You may have mustered up some gunk when changing fluids. Should probaby have cleaned out with diesel and sprayer before refilling. If you take off the right side cover you can see the lever from the quadrant that goes down and is supposed to pull out on the valve. See if that is in there properly. if the valve is dirty and stuck it won't come out. you can tap on the lever to make it go back and it may pull the valve out. Make sure nothing heavy is on the arm when you do this cause it'll come down quick if there is.

Hi Dell,
When you say top cover do you mean the top cover by the shifter or the top cover under the seat?

I should also mention that the hydraulic control lever is super hard to push down.
When i put the clutch in it goes down easy but with the clutch out and pto on the lever is really stiff to get down.
The guy who sold me this cursed tractor said it does that all the time and you just puch down with a tractor bucket but this is the stupidest thing i have ever heard.
I need it to work correctly and have no $$$$ to take it in.
After i do bust it loose with a bucket and i lower it it works ok with an implement on but with no weihgt it just goes up and satys there.
Please HELP!!!

Pull the dipstick cover and see if helping the control valve in and out a bit gets you anywhere..

Don't have the schematic in front of me for the right part names, but when I had that problem I found the draft control spring at the back of the seat had become stuck on dirt and trash, and the control was "thinking" it had a too-deep draft and was trying to raise it. Be sure the draft spring and push rod are free. The spring should be only finger tight.
