As others have said, check the fuses, pressure switches, etc first, but don't rule out a bad motor.

The electric motor in our shallow well jet pump burned up about two years ago. Local supply house had one in stock - about $70 and about 20 minutes in the well pit. Easiest "emergency fix" i've ever had.

Look at the bright side - at least it's May and you don't have to worry about freezing pipes or being cold and wet while you're working on it!

Glad I've got a spring fed cistren 100 ft above my house..... ..

This is the obvious but you've checked the breaker/fuses? As said above next check is voltage to pump.

Are you sure the pump is really not running? Perhaps the well is simply empty.

Is it a above ground jet pump, or a down in the well submirsible pump?

If it is a submersible pump is it hung on a plastic pipe? (those rub the wires into on the well casing)

Really good for the company that fixes them, for repeat business.

If it is above ground pump it could be the tube to the pressure switch is plugged.

If it is down the well it is possible that the wiring is worn into. Or the pump shaft has stripped or the pump motor has died.

If it has the electronic controls with a capacitor it is possible that the control is bad.

You need to determine if there is voltage going down to the pump. Need a volt meter to touch the wires from the starter switch or pressure switch that go to the pump motor.
