GT has mission creep

Started that quick job on the church's 8N, now dubbed GT (God's Tractor) and front end and steering box went as expected. I was ready to put the steering box back on and thought (major mistake) 'We should check the king pin while it's exposed.' Yeah sure... Bushing is history, king pin badly worn, and the right side radius rod is very fond of its pin and won't let it go. So off comes the front end with one radius rod still attached and we heat it cherry red, and grind on it and soak it with Kroil and beat on it some more until all the strength was gone from both sets of old man arms that we had in the shop. So we slump down and look at each other and decide this is the church's tractor, so it's up to God to help with this. We pray about it, have a grape soda and hang out a while, then John is set to go home and I decide to give that stuck pin a whack before he goes. You guys know the rest. The pins moves, we both shout praises and whack it again. Out it comes! OK, we got a team now, so I take a whack at the king pin, no Kroil, no heat, and it pops out too! Man, the only way this is gonna get any better is if the local CNH dealer has the parts. He does. All in all, a very rewarding day and GT is on the come back trail.

Great story! I remember pounding on the radius rod pin on my '48 8N for two weekends straight until I couldn't even lift my arms. Gald you got it our.

BTW - don't look anywhere else - chances are, that needs to be fixed also :-)
