Trying again, anybody got a lead on a front support for 8N (or 2N). GT's is mangled and twisted. I have found a few with enlarged king pin holes. Could a guy with machinist skills and a few machine tools fix one of these?

It's not uncommon to repair an egged out hole in a front support by rebushing the axle, inserting a new pin, and then welding the pin in place on the inside of the cradle with a pair of 1 inch welds. Cheap, quick, and easy. Yes, it'll require a grinder to get it back apart later, but most of them have made it 50 years on the first bushing and pin. In another 50 years, GT won't be your problem anymore.

Yep I most likely have one or maybe 2 of them. I have both a 2N and 8N I'm parting out. E-mail is open

Yes. But cost might be prohibitive. If not too badly egged out simply build both holes up with a welder and rebore to OEM spec (1.750 +.001/-.001). If it's really egged out rebore oversize, install metal sleeves, and rebore again to spec.

The final boring operation should kiss both bores to ensure thay are concentric. If the are not concentric the axle pin won't fit properly if at all.

I don't see why you couldn't OS the hole and rebush with a pipe or filler back to correct ID. then rebush for kingpin.

Every now and then the smith's site has one.. though it does not currently look like he does.

If it were mine.. i think I might try to weld the ID up with a high deposit rod and get it very close to the bushing OD.. then then hit any high spots with a b@st@rd file till i could drive the bushing in with 'some' force.. then probably call it good for another 50 ys.
