I was wondering if a ford 2n would be able to pull a 10 foot disc. Also would you recommend buying a new or used bush hog. Thanks.

Yer kidding right?

Uh.. it may pull a pre-lifted lift type.. with the rubber transport wheels down.. and pulling it down the road.. but that's about it..

my jubilee has all it can do to pull a 8 footer, and after it gets hot it wont lift it anymore, i can do it in a pinch, but a jubilee has about 31 hp your 2n has 23 to 26, so a 10 footer is just too much, my 45 hp deere [gasp!] uses this disc real easy, so i usualy just use that, no sence working a tractor into a early grave by using impliments meant for a much more powerfull machine

As said you won't be able to lift a 10 ft. 3 point hitch disk. Many years ago we did pull an 8 ft. pull type with an 8N in a pinch when the other tractor was down. The 8N slipped the tires some, but the real problem was we didn't have a swinging drawbar and turning at the end was almost impossible. The brake didn't work because it just made the other wheel spin and dig a hole.

I wouldn't recomend pulling anything 10 ft with a 2n. It can be done depending on your ground condition. If there's a lot of big stones, you're going to find yourself cussing at your tractor.

I have used an 8n to run a 5 ft brush hog. The problem is.. it over heats after any length of time cutting. Another issue is, you will need to get an overide clutch for the pto. The overide clutch will prevent tractor damage, and will prevent the momentum of the spining blade from pushing your tractor along. The overide clutch usually runs about $50 at a tractor suply store, or you might get a better deal on ebay.

I run my 9N all day with a 5 ft brush hog and have never had it overheat even when going after a field that has not been touched until the end of August/September in 90 oF + weather. It pulls it just fine in 2nd gear most of the time. ONLY time I've ever overheated is when the fan belt broke..... ...

Do get the overrunning coupler and You'll also want leveler chains. Be careful about used equipment. Look out for cracks, bad PTO shafts/universals, gearbox, and blades.

10 ft disc is way too big. Look for a 5-6 footer.

6 maybe 7 foot is max. Also if 3 point some can be way to heavy for a 2N. Brush hog 6 footer new or used but make sure the gear box is tight if you buy used.
