my 8n starts fine and runs well for 10 to 15 minutes then loses power and stalls. i replaced the carburator, changed out the plugs, points, condesor, rotor, distributor cap, and ignition coil. i also tried jumping the switch with no luck. does anyone have any ideas that may help? thanks.

RJB..... .this is CLASSIC weaksister ignition switch problem ($10, cheap). The internal switching points gitt gunked-up and heat-up and cause weak sparkies. Takes about 1/2hr for it to cool down so you can keep it runnin for 15-mins. Did I tell you to replace yer weaksister ignition switch???..... ..Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

OK, we're making progress on the info. You have a 12v frontmount that stalls after a 15 minute run time. How soon does it restart? What resistors are you using? After it stalls, did you checked for spark by grounding an old plug to the block & cranking it? If so, what did the spark look like? Stay with us....we will help you get it going.

at first it i had to wait for it to cool down but after i replaced the coil it started in just a little bit and would only run for a little bit. it will run at an idle with choke pulled. don't know about resistor. have not checked spark will do tommorrow after work

6v or 12v, front or side distributor? Without that info, it's kind of hard to get anymore specific, but as a good rule of thumb, a 1 - 2 minute run times is usually the condenser, ballast resistor, or vacuum lock....or, failure to turn the gas on. A 5 minute run time is usually fuel screens. A 15 minute run time is usually the ignition switch. A one hour run time & then restarts after it cools down is usually the coil.

If you "replaced" the carb, you will need some "extra" training.

Can you tell me the condition of the 3 screens in the fuel delivery system to the carb?

Can you tell me where they are?

I didn't see how you had removed the carb bowl drain plug and it ran at least a good quart fast.

What year model is it? (then we will know if it is front or side mount, cause the points gap different) what are the points gapped at?

That might get it (us)(them) started..

i"m not sure of the year but it is a front mount distibutor. the points are at.015. i checked the screen in the carb, and sediment bowl. i need to check the one above in gas tank. i just found out it was there. what is this about a fast quart from the carb drain plug.

The one in my tank has never had a screen as long as I have known her, it was gone.

Fore I got all the rust out of the tank and the valve, I had to take the tank off, and the valve.

My air compressor wouldn't blow the crud out of that valve, I had to make a sharp hard wire like a dentist pick, and pick the rust out of it.

She runs great these days, that was way back in history...

6v or 12v? What Dunk is saying is for you to remove the bolt in the bottom of the carb & check the fuel flow.....it should fill up a quart jar quickly.
