no fuel flow

I have a 9n. I re-built the MS carb, and it ran fine for months. Now it no longer gets fuel. It wont even fill up the sediment bowl. Funny thing is, if I disconnect the fuel line, it flows real nice. Actually, if I open the system anywhere, it will flow. I can loosen the sediment bowl, loosen any end of the fuel line, or open the carb bowl drain at the bottom, and will get flow( and also a leak at these locations) If everything is tight, the way it should be, I get no flow. Tried with the gas cap open with same result. The fuel valve/filter unit is new, but I took it off, and cleaned it anyway, no luck. I belive it is a carb problem. To me, it seems air isn't getting where it should, which is why it works when I open something else in the system (like the fuel line). It will run for a sec with starting fluid, so I'm almost sure it's fuel related(or lack of it). Please help. Thanks!

Thank you everyone for your replies. There is a slight high spot on the fuel line, however it ran fine before. Anyway, It wont' hurt to bend it down. As far as the stuck float, tapping on the carb could confirm this, but I would like a long term solution. Opening the carb is easy enough, so what do I do to the float to make it move freely. Again, thank you for you help.

Rich

I assue it will not run?

like old says, been there and done that on the full bowl on the carb and empty bowl on the sediment bowl. That may not indicate a stuck float either if the carb is full and the float has closed the needle valve.

Most likely the float is stuck and it is holding the needle closed. Would you believe if the carb is full of gas that you can remoce the sedimnet bowl and then put it back on and you will goet no fuel flow into the bowl

rick, i have had the same with my 9n. i took the fuel line off ran a wire through it several times then blew carb cleaner through it. i then re-bent the fuel line so as to be flowing down hill all the way from sed. bowl to carb inlet. liquid will not gravity feed uphill. i have not had a problem since. It sounds like the needle valve on your float in your carb has stuck.

Have you tried bumping on the side of the carb with a screwdriver handle?
