Starter Drive Question

I pulled my starter and found that the anchor plate and retainer spring had come off the shaft. I have the old spring type bendix.

From the previous posts I have read on this subject, it would appear I need to replace the "starter drive". My question is in regards to the "new improved" starter drive. Part number 52-11350C, as stated on this web site. Does this part require a hole to be drilled into the existing shaft? This sounds like a challenge on a round shaft and only having a hand drill!!

Any comments will be appreciated!

Thank you!

It looks like I might need to add a couple of characters at the end of the part number I listed above: Part 52-11350C-PD

Thanks!

So, there is no need to drill a hole in the PD model!

Great news! I will order it tonight!

pjf..... ...would you believe PD stands for "positive drive"??? ($40, cheap)

And UNLIKE the standard replacement Bendix drive (which NEEDS a new starter shaft pin-hole) the PD fits the end of the shaft starter drive pin-hole..... ...Dell
