49 8N. 6 Volt. It starts easy and will run all day long, until I turn it off. ( she won't just die on me). But when I go to restart her when hot, she turns over real slow and is very hard to start. Almost to the point of flooding. I so far have always got her to re start. But before I checked the points last it did not do this. Is it possible to have messed up the timing? And how on a front mount does one adjust it? Thanks Rick T.

Timing a frontmount is usually more trouble than it's worth. If you have any problems in the ignition system, it's probably points/condenser related & not timing. I've had my 50 frontmount for 8 years this fall & never have had a need to adjust the timing. Give us some more info..... does it turn over fast when cold & slow when hot? If so, it is certainly not the timing; you do not have an ignition circuit problem, you have a starting circuit problem. Start w/ cleaning all of your battery connections as well as the ground contact between the starter & the block. You might want to try jumping it to the starter when it's hot to see if it is a starter problem. Check out tip # 43, below, for the safe way to jump it:
