Rich, Shootin em works great, but if you are looking for a less destructive way, there are traps. The Amish community in central Ohio makes them...a starlings natural compulsion is to nest, and the Amish don't take much to them nesting in the purple martin houses. The trap is mounted on a pole with a bunch of "blank" holes (painted black circles) and 1 real hole...it resembles a wooden martin house. The actual hole leads to an internal chamber with a counter balance. The weight of the bird shifts the floor in a teeter totter fashion, closing up the hole to the outside and exposing a hole to the other side. The bird naturally goes out the other hole, which leads to a 3 inch PVC tube dropping straight down to the ground, with a wire cage at the very bottom. Once the bird steps off the floor, it automatically resets. Once back outside through the other hole, there is no place for the starling to perch, so they fall to the bottom....you just reach in and snap their neck or starve them to death. It's a very simple set up. My uncle has several and he has caught hundreds in a single spring/summer season. You can either make one or search the internet for them. If you absolutely can't find them, email me and I'll try to find a local outlet where you can purchase them.
