8n 1949 #171748 PROBLEM SOLVED???

Ok, I am done with the steering box, new bearing and housing cleaned and filled with cornhead grease along with zerk fitting replacing pipe plug for oil.

This is the situation:
Front end jacked up off ground. Left front wheel dead in line with rear wheel. I adusted the sector shafts and now have 1.5" total play on steering wheel and 4-5 lbs pressure to turn wheel. Ok? Now, with the play out of the steering and I turn steering wheel full left, everything is ok. If I go full right, then the right wheel overtravels and gets very close to the radius rod.

Now, I turn the steering wheel back to dead center and the left front dead inline with the rear wheel again, I look at the front right wheel. By default it is pointed outward like a right turn is starting. Do you think that it is toed out that 1.25"? That is exactly what I am thinking. Please give your opinion. Maybe as simple as toeing the right wheel back in by adjusting the right drag link???

Center the steering wheel by counting rthe turns end-to-end, then go half wat to center it. Look at the pittman arms, they should be pointing straight down. A little off is OK, a bunch off means take it off and put it back on straight. Now look at the front wheels. They should be straight ahead. If they are not, start cranking the drag links. A little goes a long way and you can take out a serious error there. Once you get both wheels straight and true with the steering wheel centered, crank each wheel in just a bit, only 1/8" on each side to give it a total of 1/4" toe in, and you're done. The toe in makes it handle well and not tear the turf.

On my 2N, with the front wheels both pointed straight, both arms that come out of the steering box are pointing at the footpegs. Sounds like your right steering sector is off at least one tooth inside. Check it as described above and see what you can tell. If the left tire is pointed straight and both arms are pointing at the footpegs, then I'd try adjsuting it out with the tie rod end on that side where the tire is not pointing straight.

Well, the toe in thing didn't pull the wheel back in line near enough. So i pulled the sector shafts to verify proper placement. They were and are now still properly placed to each other and the ball and block.

Now I notice each drag link castlenut bolt on bottom of grease fitting is scraping the top of the radius rods. After looking into this a bit more, I notice that each way I turn the wheel, full left or right, the castle nut stops on the radius rod. But a little nudge of the wheel into the turn pulls the castle nut further thus creating an even tighter turn, both ways. I am not sure how far is too far. It seems that either tire ends up maybe 1/4" from the radius rod. Is this normal?
Any thoughts?
