My front pulley is warped pretty bad. It is not throwing the fan belt so should I worry about.

Thanks in advance,

Newbe..... ..dang cheap Ford sheetmetal pulley, eh? While it could be "loose", they BEND easily.

The front pulley bolt is tightened to 150ft/lbs. You might want to check. (tip: stuff about 3-ft of 1/4" soft rope down enny sparkie hole to prevent the crankshaft from completly rotating 360deg thru the top of the cylinder, and you can tighten or loosen yer pulley bolt)

Me, I got "harassed" about my warped and bent sheetmetal pulley so I replaced it with a "billet" one-piece lathe turned steel pulley designed for front end loader pump duty. $50 (cheap)..... .the non-warped Dell

2N--if you can grab the pulley and not get any wobble out of it you just have a bent pulley, which is my take on what you need to fix. If the pulley wobbles/moves when you grab it, you have other issues and post back with this info and we will help out with that fix.

Take your tractor out of gear, block the tires, and with the key in the off position, have a helper jab the starter button so you can see where the bends in your pulley are in relation to the block on your engine.

Carefully put a screw driver or pry bar where it needs to be straightened and you should be able to eliminate all if not most of your problem.

Hey Tim,

Good advice!! That hadn't occurred to me. But if you can fix it, there's no point spending the bucks to replace it.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Colin

Colin---it's been fun so far---today I wired all new headlights and a tail light on my 49 8N and finished painting the rear fenders---I will post pics in the next couple of weeks. It should be finished in time to pull the Cub Scouts' wagon in the local July 4th Parade (don't tell anyone).

If I'm not careful, I'll end up not playing with this one up on the farm----be afraid to get it all scratched up--LOL---

Bent is a better discription than warped. I will try your suggestion.

Thanks,
