Morning Boys, I'm up early this morning looking at GT's front axle spacing. The book calls for a 3/4" spacer in front of the axle, I have a 3/4" stack of bushings in there now and it looks pretty close to the front mount distro. Now is the time to modify the spacing to save the distro from future beatings. What do y'all think?

'49 8N front mount.

You need one 3/4" spacer in front of the axle, and UP TO three small washer-looking spacers behind the axle. I always used the maximum (three) washers on the backside on all my N Series tractors.

Here is a pic of Rustbuckets setup, hard to see but you should be able to get the idea (it is the same as the 8N in spacing). You can also visit my website and there are a few closer pics that show this spacing.

HTH,
Dan

Of course GT did not have the 3/4" spacer, but I do have a 3/4" stack of bushings in there now. I need to find more bushings for the rear, tomorrow I'll check with JD dealer, done bought out CHN and TSC. Big push Monday and Tuesday to get GT back up and running so I can put OW back in the field and earning his keep. Is it necessary to leave some slack in the back side, or just fill it up with bushings? I seem to recall 3/16" or so should be left???

Delilah had a piece of pipe that was 3/4" long on there - worked so good I kept it on when I spruced her up.

OW had it too, but this one was suffering from much less TLC. I wish I had a piece of big pipe to make one from, but I have no time, so bushings may have to suffice.
