OK guys, first time on a 6v system. GT is running and not charging. It was neg gnd, now it is pos gnd. I flashed the armature to field while it was running and nothing changed, did get a little spark. Ammeter is correctly wired, shows discharge when cranking, small discharge when running. This system was working correctly before rebuild and conversion back to pos gnd. See pic of voltage reg, which terminal is which?

Ramrod, Your two (2) bobbin (relay) regulator does not have Current Regulation. It was/Is used with a 3 Brush Generator.

Do you have a 3 brush GEN ?

The 2 Bobbin regulator will work with a 2 brush generator but if you ever have a "Shorted" load the GEN will be damaged (Smoke)

Boy you need some help.

You don't polarize an A circuit job like that when it is running.. and you never flash to the field on an A circuit regulator.

A circuits polarize ARM to BAT when the unit is not running.

B circuit gennies..like an NAA has polarize BAT to FLD.. and that CAN be done when running as that is the way it full fields also.

There is agood chance your regulator is smoked if there was any power on that armature...

School of hard knocks just got a 40$ tuition fee is all.. probably what your new regulator may cost.

Yeah, I finally got it, right there in front of me. It was hot today, brain drain set in. We had it wired right, so it goes to alt/starter shop tomorrow, he'll fix it on the spot. I could hear a bearing knock in the genny anyway.

I'm looking for A, B, and C, what connects to what? Is A field or arm? Is C gnd? This pos gnd system is a bit strange when I get to VR circuit.

Top set = cutout - they are open and pull in as generator gets up to voltage

Bottom set = voltage regulation - they open up when generator reachs proper charging volatage.
(not open to look at more like a viberation of fast open close)
