I wanna thank Ramrod for providing the link & Hobo for the excellant write up & pics. Was planning on adding a temp gauge and that answers all questions.

If this board had smilies, I'd have a big one.(chuckle)

We're gonna learn this trick together. I'm headed out this morning to gather the parts for adding it to GT, and a voltage regulator, and a ballast resistor, and a rebuild on the genny, and whatever else pops up to surprise me on this 'quickie' front end rebuild ...

Been done many times before. My favorite method is drill and tap the cylinder head. Search for Hobo's step-by-step in the how-to's I think.

Been there and done that. The most sensible mod I can think of.

Looking back, I would have done more searching for the guage with different fittings to go in the hole you are gonna drill and tap. I wound up with an extra guage because of lack of prior planning and purchasing what I need the first time. I found exactly what I needed at AutoZone

I plan on visiting AutoZone tomorrow. It's across the street from the Alternator and Starter shop that will fix my 6v genny and VR for me.

That gray head with the green wire is mine. Took me, maybe 90 minutes to do the install, start to finish. It"s easy, so go for it.
