I found a deal on a 6' King Kutter Brush mower, right when my 5' mower died, so my question is ..will the N handle the 6' mower ..I have a ORC installed already. I cut 4 acres, flat, most of the time it's 3-4", but there are times its 8" or more ..not often but early in the year when I cant get there to cut it..bout 150 miles from home. I figure with it 3-4" cutting slow I should be Ok, and if it's deeper and I make narrower passes it should work too ..But I'd really appreciate someones experienced input on this. The 52 runs great with no problems and only grunted a bit with the 5' mower in real deep stuff when making a full size pass ..so I'm hoping.. I can get the 6' for a lot less than a new 5' and the 6' is only 2 years old and looks like new.

Apples and oranges brush cutter and finish mower and what you need to cut. If you need to cut 4-6 inch tall grass then your tractor can use a 6 ft mower either style, if grass is taller then that a 5 ft brush hog would be better , or go very slow. A brush cutter can cut tall grass (1 or 2 ft or more) and brush which a finish mower cannot. But the rule is maximun 5 ft brush cutter in high grass unless you can go slow or take half passes, or half height, if you need to do that then you have essentially a 3 ft mower.

The 6-footer is too much at full load cutting, but if the deal is that good maybe get by w/ it & keep looking for a deal on a 5-footer. You can always sell the 6' later, maybe make a profit?

The 6ft. mower might be a little too heavy for that tractor

I',ve used a 6' KingKutter since 1994 on two acres. It does a good job on normal heighth grass, but doesn't do as well if it gets heavy. It's not that the tractor won't pull 6', the mower belts will start to slip. I know there are some finish mowers that do better than KK in deep grass. If I have something a little high, I cut it with my brush hog. Then after a day or so of drying I go over it with the finish mower.

The finish mower pull quite a bit harder than the brush cutter. In truth, I get along very well with the 6'.

Hi Guys ..Thanks for the comments ..The King Kutter I'm looking at is a brush mower, bush hog style, not a finish mower ..so there are no belts ..Was the Land Pride mentioned earlier a finish mower or a bush hog ? Thanks

The Land Pride I mentioned is a finish mower and the other one I was comparing it to was a finish mower.

I think you would be better off with a 5' cutter that you could run fast with and still get a good cut. A fast 5' bush hog will cut the acreage faster than a slow 6' bush hog.

Mow with a 6" LandPride and a very tired engine with no trouble unless I let it get to high then I just take smaller cuts or slow down. Real happy with the 6" mow since I mow about 4 acres.

If the Land Pride will do it then most anything else should do better. I have a 4 foot Land Pride that is for sale...It is Like using scissors compared to the Big Bee 5 footer I had. Gear ratio seems to be "not right" compared to the Big Bee.

Actually the 6' is too big for an N tractor.

But ifn you keep it cut and only take off the top 3" it might pull it.

You are right. 5' is just right unless it has almost got out of hand like my Dad's place recently did. He just finished hogging it and had to take about 3/4 bites in some heavy grass spots. But for thright price I'd probably grab a 6 footer and use it in all the places I could then switch to my 5 footer.
