Gas in crankcase

My 2N won't run but in the process of trying to revive it when I turn it over it squeals once every revolution which appears to be coming from the crankcase. Looked at the oil level and it looks like and smells like gas in the oil.

How does gas get into the crank case on an updraft carb? Even if the float stuck it should come out the carb intake rather than go up to the cylinders.

Any help?

Ya might also put a teaspoon of oil in each spark plug hole so that the gas washed cyls will have a little prelube onthem before they start going up and down real fast.

Even though the air intake pip at the mouth of the carb is low.. it travels up high to the top of the air cleaner.. up level with the gas tank. if the hose clamp and tube is good.. gas will eventually fill the carb, and the breather tube and the manifold.. all to the same level.. at some point the spill over into the valves, assuming you have enough gass in your tank.. Takes a bit to happen..

Change the oil.. think of this as a crankcase flush...

your fuel tank is up higher than the intake valves. law of physics there.

Yes its sort of funny how gas does and will travel up hill in an up draft carb system and when it does it can and will destory an engine fast.

Rollie: If your fuel cut-off valve doesn't completely turn off the gas flow, the same condition can happen even when you turn the gas off. I learned this the hard way. And, I've bought a new gas cut-off valve that was bad out of the package. GA Jim

Ummm, because you didn't turn yer gas valve off on the bottom of the tank when you got thru using her?

Yes it will, a minor leak on your float needle valve assembly will fill your crankcase with....

Guess what... Gas!!
