I am wanting to wonder if turning the screws in makes the mix leaner. I haven't seen this stated in the carb rebuild article.

Kind Regards, russ

Dell, does WA stand for the state. I am in Spo.

So, the MS idle screw is out for lean. The high speed needle is just the opposite, in for lean?

I was idling way too rich by the look of my plugs.

Thanks for the information.

Kind Regards, russ

Russ..... ..the side-pointing idlemix is BASSACKWARDS; out for lean, IN for ENRICH. Simple, eh?

ALWAYS adjust yer side-pointing idlemix for MAXIMUM idle rpms, NOT SMOOTHEST idle, max idle. Understand? Ford idle specs is a SLOOOooow 400rpms, set by the behinder carb throttle screw.

Both Ford and Marvel/Schebler say to adjust the down-pointing mainjet and the side-pointing idlemix to 1-turn to start with. You ain't read yer carb instructions very good, have you???

Much to the dismay of environmental bureaucrats, all carbs must be adjusted to their individual engine. Why? 'cuz they all flow slightly differently and that is compensated by them handy-dandy carb tweek'ems.

For reference purposes, my eazy starting 6-volt 52-8N side-pointing idlemix is about 1/4-turn and down-pointing mainjet is 2-turns. Yours should be close but NOT necessarily the same. ..... .respectfully, Dell
