However.. for one already stuck.. pul the valve cover off.. id the sticky valve.. scrub the stem with an old toothbrush.. and lube it up with MMO.. or a mix of ATF and kero.. try to work it to get it moving.. once moving.. lube it up again... Add the mmo or atf to the fuel and run her.

If you can't get her moving.. time to pull head.. might be mechanical damage.. etc..

New forum is great...Get those valves unstuck and report back with compression readings... Bookmark the thread. It gets bumped to the top when you repost.

When I had that problem, I removed the valve cover and bumped the starter while squirting PB on the stuck valve stems (along with pushing the stuck lifters back down a few times with a wooden dowel). Eventually, the valves began to follow. After a few revolutions my problem was solved (or dissolved if you will). Hopefully, your valves are not stuck too bad either and may free up as easily. Good luck. Hope you don't have to pull the head.

Anonymous said: (quoted from post at 09:37:30 06/18/07) tex, how you been doing? i tried to call you several times and finally gave up after awhile. on the stuck valve, i would alternate with pb blaster and mmo. one then the other while rotateing the engine. if its stuck really bad the head will have to come off so you can knock the valve down with a hammer and peice of wood. Hey RP! Im good. still trying to get the 47' going. Its been a long drawn out process.
I'm not real good about answering the phone when it rings. It seems like its always someone trying to sell me something. If you leave a message though, I'll call you back.

How your crops doing with all this rain?

Adding MMO to the oil is a good slow way to help prevent sticky valves. However.. for one already stuck.. pul the valve cover off.. id the sticky valve.. scrub the stem with an old toothbrush.. and lube it up with MMO.. or a mix of ATF and kero.. try to work it to get it moving.. once moving.. lube it up again... Add the mmo or atf to the fuel and run her.

If you can't get her moving.. time to pull head.. might be mechanical damage.. etc..
