ok guys, i just got another email from dave. if anyone wants his email...here it is:

dkirk@milwpc.com

i must have gotten the 49.99 price mixed with the pertronix $149 I recently seen on ebay. that was my mistake. sorry bout that.(dern memory)...it is not 49.99 + s.h. it is $25 + s.h.

this is what he wrote me today:

The PointSaver is epoxy potted in a metal box and is sealed against moisture and vibration. It uses the breaker points for triggering, but current through the points is reduced by 96% of the original value, thus points last at least 10 times longer. There is nothing internal in the module to wear out, and they've proven very dependable in service. I'm still running the first prototype on my Cub Cadet, along with original points, after 5 years of year-round service. The PointSaver comes with a one-year unconditional warranty - if it fails or you're dissatisfied in any way, return for exchange or full refund, your choice.

thanks

OK is this the same Dave that goes by "Ignitionman" on other automotive boards?

Please be honest with me on this.

Thanks in advance

Will this be a breakerless ignition module using a reluctor ( for example )? or a low current breaker trigger / transistorized switch type ignition?

Big bucks for a 50 cent transistor and a 25 cent diode potted in some epoxy.

Sure.

I've seen hobby kits that use the existing breaker contacts in low current trigger mode. Cheapy set of plans AND parts is 4.99$ on the internet.. pretty much a universal kit.. just modify your old breaker and plate set.. and modify the wireing a tad..

ok fellas, i will let you guys know as soon as i can. the first is being worked on right now. i simply offer this because I for one do NOT want to pay $149 for the ones advertised on ebay.
i am also sure that nobody else really wants to either.
i promise to keep you posted.

I've been waiting for someone to come up with a simple economical conversion. Will it be universal, or "N" specific? I've got other applications I would like to convert.

I would be another one to add to this list that would be definitely interested! Just so it turns out to be a proven dependable part. :)
