For those of you in Central Illinois, you can thank me for the rain tonight. We started tearing off the three-layer roof of our 89 year old Four Square this past weekend, and right on schedule, here's the rain.

So, in leu of working on the roof tonight, I went out to the shed and flipped all the wheels on the 8N around to the "wide track" look and did a little cultivating in the field corn. This is the first time I've ever run a cultivator, and I'm pleased as punch that I only dug up about a third of the corn…

It was fun none-the-less, and there was a beautiful sunset as I finished up, so it wasn't a total loss.

Colin,

My cultivator has a center fin, but no wheel (or maybe that's what it's called?). It's a Fergeson cultivator, if I recall right...

I bought new sweeps for it (old ones were pretty far gone), and probably need to do some fine-tuning on them before I use it again - they are not all at the same depth (vary by as much as an inch).

I must say, the 8N looks pretty "boss" with the wheels set to "extra wide!"

Ed,

I bet the 8N looked cool with the wide spacing on the rear wheels!

Did you also space the front wheels?

If you have photos of you and the 8N cultivating, you should post a couple here!

Colin

Hey Ed,

Glad you got some rain ... and I hope it didn"t damage anything in your abode.

Does your cultivator have a center wheel or fin wheel on it? Mine does not, and it sure can be tricky to keep it running straight. I won"t be doing a lot of detailed work with it until I get a wheel installed.

Colin, MN
