I have a 1949 8n.
If it stalls for any reason (to heavy a load, or trying to pull on 1/2 throttle) I cant get it stated again for an hour or so, but if I turn it off it will start right back up again whit out any trouble.
Any one know what is happening here?
Thanks RDAllison

RD, these tractors are just like wimmen. Each one is different and it takes something different to turn each one of 'em on. Keep fiddling wif her and ye will figure out what it takes to turn her on, then like ye wife, ye will both be happy. Good luck fiddling! !

If it stalls, it also floods a bit, so to restart immediately, you'll need just a touch of choke to make it fire up. While you're cranking it, just pop the choke out and let it go back in, that is all it should need.

RD,

I have a 48 8N that has a similar problem. When it is warm and I shut it off it will start right back up with no choke. If it stalls because of a heavy load, it takes a quick choke to get it to start up again.

I believe all of these old tractors have their own way they like to start: some just a momentary choke, some no choke, some half throttle, some no throttle, etc. Above is what works for me. It may not work for you. Try several different things when it stalls and see if any works.

Good luck,
Danny
