I know this is going to sound off the wall, but here goes. Recently I broke a left front spindle causing damage to my front axle. After roaming a tractor salvage yard for some time I approached the owner to ask for help finding the replacement part.It seems that I may have a one of a kind.My N has the radius rod holes in the L/R axles instead of the center axle as all of the diagrams at Ford/New Holland indicate. Does anyone else out there in N land have one of these too? If so what model did this come on? I thought that mine was a 46 2N but now I really wonder if this front axle assembly really belongs to a ford tractor. Thanks in advance

That would be the correct axle/radius rod setup for a 2N. You must be looking at 8N diagrams and
parts. They would attach the radius rods to the center section of the axle.

The 9N/2N had the radius rods attached to the center axle casting. The 8N had the radius arms attached to the extensions. I agree with Mike that someone has probably switched axles sometime.

My synapses fired off in reverse last night. Correcto-mundo, Dude! 8N center axle, 9/2 axle extensions.

They say a picture says a thousand words. From your discription it doesn't sound familar but someone may recognize it by a picture. It may be a 8n axle on your 2n? Good luck...Mike
