I have a Ford 2N with orignal front tires that need to be replaced. The tires are not the typical 3-rib design but are multi-grooved similar to an implement tire. Are there original tire designs available or should I replace them with a standard implement tire?

Alan, if your tractor isn't wearing a loader there's nothing wrong with the oringinal 19 inch tires. Except in some areas there a little difficult to find. However there was a company that made after market 16 inch rims for the 2n/9n although these to are hard to come by. I have a factory pair and a home made pair. For the home made ones you'll need the narrow 16 inch rims to put your 19 inch centers in other wise they will rub on the spindle housing. This is where people have problems with home made rims no matter what size they try to use to wide of rim and wind up rubbing. John

A previous owner of my 9N cut off the original rims & welded 15 inch rims on the wheels, so I am using some very old, 5.90X15 studded retread snow tires. They work well and they were free because they were so obsolete.

My 2 cents is that it would depend on the intended use of the tractor. If mostly mowing, use the implement/auto style as they will not cut up the yard as much when turning.

i put 4 x 19 single rib on mine. reason being is i didn't know any better. but still, they work perfect in the field or pushing snow. i don't really think about it much.

The orig. 2N tire was a Single Rib, 4.00 x 19" tire. They have them here on this site.
If I were buying tires, I would prefer 3 rib tires. More stability on hard surfaces. The single rib tire was, I think, more for use in the plow rows of the field. I use 3 rib titans on my 2N, and I find they handle nice on hard surface as well as for plowing snow. To each his own!!! No matter what, I would never use impliment grade tires on the front of my 2N. Too much sliding around, wears the tire out faster.

19 inch or 16 inch?? Either way you can get them from a good number of places. The 2 or 3 rib tire is very common and not hard to find any good tire dealer should be able to get them and most farm and home stores will have them

My 8n wears 5.50 x 26 inch three rib tires. Pretty easy to find. Paid right at $100 for two new ones recently.
