anybody here restoring an older car or truck? We are going to be cleaning out Dads old repair shop. It has lots of older stuff in it, mostly flathead ford, studebaker and loads of stuff I have no idea what is. He moved into that shop in 1954 but was mechanicing for about 12 years in the old shop. He never threw anything away. I know there is several complete 50's chevy v8 including a 348 and 283 plus lots of body parts of various models. He qui doing repair work there in about 1970 and it is almost just like he walked out of it yesterday. I will keep some but have no room to store it but will bring what someone may want home for a short term. Better be able to describe what you may need cause I done forgot what anything looks like that ain't school bus yeller or 8N red. Will be a few weeks before I go there but it has sat just like he left it for the last 30 years so a few more weeks won't hurt.

I am into first and second generation Novas. Nova engines were different than regular Chevy engines due to the location of the oil filter. IF you come across a 327 Nova bare block, it is worth it"s weight in gold. A complete engine is almost priceless. Silly little things like a rear view mirror for a VW convertable is in the several hundred dollar range along vith almost any exterior trim for the 50"s and 60"s cars. Stromberg 97 carbs fall into this catagory. If you don"t know what it is, find someone to identify the trinket. I found a Mickey Mouse key fob of the 50"s era for a quarter in a rummage sale! I was almost as elated as finding a corvette in a hay stack. Not worth quite as much but it was a great find. I turned down $200 for it. One man"s junk is another man"s treasure. Have fun. Every time we pass an auto salvage yard the kids holler "There"s a Daddy mall".

Ron , I am about 20 miles west of Hot Springs and have family towards the mena area . I would be glad (and interested) in looking at what you have . Maybe theres something I could by or trade for some N parts I have or at least help identify some rare parts that you dont need to let go cheap .I hate to see someone get $10 for a $200 set of double hump chevy heads just because they were not familiar with the parts . I grew up in a salvage yard / machine shop . I have a small automotive machine shop and tinker with stuff like that - Ken(Ark) aiw@ipa.net

Ken, this shop is in the Houston Texas area, I am not trying to sell the stuff, I am hoping to give it to someone who needs it rather than throw it away. I need to clean out the shop and sell the property. I will pay property taxes there this fall but hope to sell it before next year"s taxes roll around. Harris County Tx has HIGH taxes. We will have several 40 yard dumpsters there around November and what we don"t keep we will haul off. I have plenty of N parts, Dad had 8 of them in various stages of repair and neglect:^)

What ever you do, take lots of pictures of your Daddy's shop. Daddys don't come around very often and you have the oppertunity to keep a lot of what he was.

My daddy died when I was 3. Wish somebody had taken pictures of what he was.
