Carb air intake

Does the rubber boot that connects the carb with the air intake pipe need a hose clamp? Mine's never had one and I never even thought about it until I just saw a pic of one with two clamps. Mine seems very snug but I suppose dirt could easily be sucked up in there if there is no clamp. Right?

i wouldn't run mine without the clamps. that dirty air WILL ruin your engine.

All the connections I have seen have one, for a buck or two you can ensure your sucking only filtered air
