rich, look on a flat surface on the left side of the motor near the head

it will either have a diamond or a star and then 8n******

we can tell the year by the serial number. keep in mind that is the year of the motor. under the axle and pump housings are more cast numbers that will tell the tractor year. motors were frequently swapped.
