I searched but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Would all 9n models have come from the factor in the all gray color or not? I've seen a lot of 9n that are red and gray. Is that something people did later to make their 9n look like 8n or is that normal after some year model?

Forest grey, I believe is what the grey was called. Take a look inside your rear wheel brake drum where the dust shield is, and you will most likely see the original color on the inside of the dust shield. In the photo archives, it looks like souNdguy has the right color scheme.

A lot of the 9Ns and 2Ns got painted to look like 8Ns as a selling point. Dishonest in some ways but it did help them sell. The only ones that should be red and gray are the 8Ns and the others are all gray at least when new

All 9Ns and 2Ns were gray. All 8Ns had red running gear with gray sheet metal. (Some items were plated and so were cadmium or zinc colored).
