Suddenly started breaking shear pins

One more thing under the "It's always something" category.
Got my new sway bars and the shredder attached and headed for the seven acre meadow. I made one long pass, did a slow left turn, and my shear pin broke. This was an oversized bolt that the previous owner had left in there. Probably thicker guage than it should be. I drove back to the barn and pulled another pin out that I had bought last year "just in case." It broke within seconds of hitting the grass, which is only about 18 inches high. I've plowed through shoulder high weeds and two inch saplings and never broke a pin before. I tried to think what would be causing it. I pulled both bolts in the hog's tranny. Even from the bottom hole I couldn't feel any fluid so I filled it up til it trickled out the bottom hole. Does that sound right?
The third shear pin lasted about 15 minutes and broke in 12 inch high grass.
I don't get it. The only thing different from the last time I mowed is a new PTO shaft and ORC.

Thoughts?

Hey, Wayne. Well, I'm not real sure what was causing it. I did heavily grease up the telescoping drive shaft on the hog. It seems like it might have been snapping the shear pins when I raised the implement all the way up, which perhaps forces the inner shaft (the half that connects to the tractor) all the way in and against the pin.
The new ORC is exactly the same length as the old one, and the new PTO shaft, I assume, would be the same as the old one. So I don't know why a change in length would be an issue.

Anyway, I bought a half dozen 3/8 x four inch bolts. Put one of those in this morning and mowed for four hours without breaking a pin.

I had replaced my tractor PTO shaft (not the hog's shaft) with a new one. I had replaced my old ORC with a new one.

The hog shaft is telescopic. It slides in and out to hook up to the tractor.

Basically, self adjusting so How could it be too short or too long?

Not arguing, just trying to figure this out.

The blades seem to be spinning free and clear with no problems

If it is binding, where should I look for this?

By the way, many of us post an issue in more than one web site. Lots of us frequent multiple boards. Many only haunt one board. Posting questions in more than one forum helps to get a larger variety of replies and suggestions.
