??? on front end loader for 8N

I have an early model 8N tractor. I know these tractors are not the best tractor to use with a front end loader, but I found a used loader that may be a good deal. The loader was on a Fordson tractor. He is only asking $150. The guy says the loader was on the tractor when he bought the tractor, but he took it off before using it. He doesn't know if the hydraulics work.

Questions:

1. How hard is it to mount on an 8N? Does it take any special hardware that I might have to purchase? Also, can the loader be removed (fairly easy) if I do not want to leave it on the tarctor all of the time?

2. Are the hydraulics expensive to repair if they are not working?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

My loader is a Wagner. It is not too bad to get off but--- I have a garage with an overhead electric hosit and a manual chain fall. I get the electic hoist on the bar ahead of the steering wheel and the chain hoist hooked to the arms just behind the bucket. You have to lift and lower each end to get them to clear the front axle and not wipe out the alternator. I roll the tractor out and set the loader on a 2 wheel trailer and take it outside. With the right equipment it is not too bad. Without equipment it would be a real bear. See mounts ect. at link

Like Bruce said, PUMP, if it doesn`t have one the price is about right in my opinion. They can be hard to find and expensive. Mounting plate for the front end is also a must. I bet it is still on the tractor as most usually are. If you put a loader on your N be sure that you have lots of weight for the rear tires or a 3 point weight. It will take some of the drag off the front end. I have loaders on two of my 8Ns and not a bit of trouble with either one for 28 years. Once you get the hang of it they are fairly easy to remove and put back on. Careful that you dont run a shaft through the radiator when reattaching it. BTDT !

Sorry to be evasive, but we need more info on the type of loader before those questions can be answered intelligently. For example.....look for a data plate. Does it have a name on it, like Wagner? Does it have a pump w/ it, or does it run off of the test port on the tractors hydraulic pump? My loader is a Freeman loader w/ a trip bucket. It does not have an external pump & it does not come off the tractor easily at all. And, if you only have one N & need to use it for other chores than the loader, I would not recommend that you put it on your tractor.
