That's the problem with these tractors. They are good and the parts are usually reasonable. Me? I have a 15 year old son whom I want to teach how engines really work, as in points and plugs, distributors and the like. These electronic things made today almost require a shop full of electronic diagnostics equipment to do anything.

I'd prefer he learn to troubleshoot things on his own rather than depending on someone else to do it for him. I see the tractor as being the perfect 'vehicle' for this since almost everything is easy to get to.

I'm hoping to find one fairly close to home and still in one piece - at least enough so that I can get it on my trailer and get it home. I do have an acre and a half of yard to establish so if it ran from day one, even if poorly, that would be a plus.

I envy all you who have a beast to enjoy, work with or curse at.

Aren't we all doing both?

I'm looking. Not for a garage queen, but a worker. One that runs good and will work hard. I want one that needs a good home that will care for it because after the hard stuff is done, I'll clean and fix anything else it needs.
