Still not quite right

Well I finally got time to dig around on my 40' 9N this weekend. Since I finally got it running it just doesn't sound right. Some of it might be the new manifold and the lack of the leak on cylander #4. But it starts different now too. Used to be throttle at 0 choke briefly, close choke and slowly give it more throttle until warm. Now it won't run under half throttle and prefers full? I tried adjusting the carb but I can take both needles all the way out and other than the sound of a vacuum leak (through the holes) it still runs about the same. I have good fuel flow, so I am guessing something varnished or gooked up in the long sit. Clean and rebuild? or since I have had to JB one of the bolt holes on the flange maybe I should look at a replacement?

Spark issues, I found that I do in fact have all the plug wires on the right plugs and in the cap correctly. However I found that the #4 wire was not making good contact (no continuity) on the factory made end, so I took that apart and sured up that conection.
So that is where I am with my 9N... Suggestions welcome... I'm hoping to hook the brush hog up soon and get some mowing done...

Thanks for everyones help up till now.

James

For the low speed needle IN is richer. I was straightened out on this a few weeks ago. Thanks to Dell! Hope this helps.

james, pull the drain plug at bottom of carb, then take out the top needle valve and shoot a half can of carb cleaner in at top and let it run out the bottom. may clean it out for you. RP

Well if you can take the main jet all the way out and it still runs you most likely broke some dirt loose inside the carb and it has now clogged it up.
