Low and behold the generator, if original to the tractor has a date stamp, the older fellow who rebuilt it has a book with the numbers listed by the years, it says X-11 is early 1940, if so this helps date my numberless tractor and zero in on the right year. The generator had the fields replaced, new windings, bearing, bushing, brushes and resoldered the armature, enameled it and turned and undercut. Also dumped out a nest of little bee's, cost was 80.00. Next a new generator cut out to make it last!

RJ.....your new genny looks real good. However on dating your tractor,I believe your genny man looked at the wrong numbers.I think my blueprints states that the "U" would be for 1940 and "X" was for 1944,but I could be wrong on the "X".I have a small "A" genny[1939] and it's marked with the "T",and a small "B" genny [1940],marked with the "U".Yours appears to be either the "C" genny or the 2N genny. The "C" genny did come out in 1940,and should be marked with a "U". The "C" and 2N genny[1942] parts are interchangeable.I think the only diff in the "C" and 2N genny is the belt adjustment clip on top.If it has the clip,it's the 2n genny. All this don't help ID your tractor but there are other items that are diff that you might use.I don't believe I would use a genny or starter for ID purposes. don b

Thanks for the info. I'm sure most generators have been rebuilt and swapped a lot.

Why is your tractor numberless? Nice work on the generator!
