The gear on the shaft of my side mount distibutor was damaged. Can I replace this gear or do I have to buy the entire distributor? Please let me know what the best procedure is. If this gear can be replaced, where can I buy a replacement? Thank you for your help. I believe the tractor is a 1952 8n, the only number I could find on the left hand side of the engine block was 472111.

Alejander..... ..congratulations, s/n 472111 is indeed a 1952 sidemount 8N engine.

Unfortunately, the aluminum riveted sidemount distributor drive gear apparently is NLA and you will haffta byte the $200 bullet for NEW distributor..... ...Dell

I can't help you with where to get them.. but would like to say that you may want to investigate what damaged the gear.. and see if the driving gear is ok.. etc..

The New Holland consumer parts site shows the gear's part # to be 7RA12390C.

My son works in "parts" at the local NH dealer, but has tomorrow off. I will stop there if I have time in the AM, and see if that is still a "good" number in the NH system.

The 7RA prefix makes it a car part number.Try old ford parts dealers.Take a good look a the drive gear for damage.

The number comes up as still "good" at New Holland, but the price is $95.17!!!

Yikes! i wonder what the distribuitor would cost!!

Might be cheaper to find out what ford car use dthat distrib gear, and then pull one from a junkyard and strip it!!
