My new pilot bearing is sealed on both sides. Part number 6203D. Can anyone verify if this is the correct bearing and does it matter which way it goes in?

You're fine with that set up. If you had a pilot with an open side, you'd want to put the open side against the engine.

Any 203 bearing will work in your pilot. Some Fords even used an oilite bushing there. As far as which way, if it's sealed/sheilded both sides, it doesn't matter. I always like the sealed bearing better as you know they aren't going to get crud in them. If it only has one seal or shield, put the non-shielded side against the crankshaft so the seal/sheild keeps the crud out of the bearing. If it is open on one side, pack some grease in there before installation.

Can anyone tell me what size bolts to use as guide pins when aligning the engine half to the trans half?

I have two special bolts just for this - 7/16" X 14 that is 6" long - I cut the hex head off. You could get them shorter - but I like the extra length.

I'm going on memory here, but I think they are 7/16 USS. Just get the same as hold the tractor together, only longer - I like about 4 inch. Cut the heads off, put a slot in for a screwdriver, and put it together.

Okay, in that case, I went out and pulled one out. Yes, they are 7/16 USS. Have fun tonight!
