Hi, I have a 9N and it has an 8N engine in it. With a side mount Distributor. I would like to know if it is possible to add a proofmeter to this tractor and how much work is it to do it. Thanks Ben

Remove the gov. shaft if its hollow on the rear of the shaft and most are I have the drive pin that goes in the hollow hole. You then would only need the gov. housing that the proof meter cable screws to, you may already have it. You then could run a proof meter off the gov. how you hang the meter may B a different story.

third party image

heres a picture of the governor cup. See the oil hole on top? See the round thingy in the middle? that is the proof meter drive cap that hides the proofmeter drive tang that drives the speedometer cable that drives the proofmeter.

All replacement governor cups have the proofmeter drive capped off. All you haffta do is unscrew the cap, just like a bottletop, and there is the tang. Simple, eh?..... .Dell

If it has the governor with the Proofmeter drive all you need is the cable and meter and a bracket to mount it.

I don't know if there would be room anywhere on the dash to mount it but a bracket could be fabricated to mount it to one side of the dash.
