Well have been busy this week, but need to let you know how things went. we had 16 Ford, and 2 Fordsons in our group. There were 2 other Fords there and 2 nice Fergy's there. International Harvester was the featured tractors, along with Cub Cadet. There was a big sea of red and yellow. No offical count but I would guess at least 175 big Red tractors and probly 50 Cubs there. Also big green John Deere was well represented. Case, Oliver,Cockshutt, Sears,HartParr,Allis-Chalmers, many Staionary Engines, oilfield engines,4 Steam Engines, and my favorite" my father-in-law's Buckeye Trenching Machine. This trencher has been down for 17 years, trees growing up through it. Brother in law found an engine to fit it,and got her running again! He is planning on putting some tile into the ground this Fall after crop is harvested. I do not have to say the family WAS PROUD to see the machine running again. This trencher fed a family of 9 for a lot of years. To top the show off a fellow poster showed up to see what we had to show. I had posted on this board and the Ferguson board about a slipscoop I had bought. A poster from the Ferguson board came to the show ALL the way from Queensland, Austraila. Dave was in country for the air show in Oshkosh, Wisconson. All in all the show was a great TIME and the Food was fantastic!!

That is my wife and her brother in the photo. Ron, my BIL used to sit/stand in that part behind the digging wheel (called the boot). The rest of the crew would hand down clay or cement tile to him and he would place them in the ditch. Ron would be below ground level protected by the steel boot that slid through the ditch. And you thought you had a bad job! All this so a farmer could grow a better crop for us to eat.

Thank You Dunk for the help. Joe

Astonishing! Thanks for explaining it, too, as you've answered exactly the questions I had in my head when I saw that boot. What an incredible machine! Thanks to you, too, Dunk!

I have seen one in operation that the digging parts looked like the digging parts on that one, it was cool to watch, and it wasn't a demonstration, it was actually making money for someone.

But the tractor part was different, but I can't remember exactly what it did look like.

Got me curious, Joe.

I thought you buried pipe with a trencher.

I didn't know they growed groceries too.

Call me confused...

My father in law was a drainage contractor- installed field tile to drain farmland so crop did not flood out. Did it for many years. His wheel trencher could dig 6 feet down and hold a 1/4 inch grade. Will send you a photo tomorrow. He could install up to 12 inch tile and down to 4 inch. Smaller than 4 did not do much good. joe

Dawn I do not think the machine is on this site, just a display. We did have a live web cam this year and wife and I got to wave to my sister80 miles away. Kind of cool! I sent Dunk a photo ,however it was very large, hope he can downsize it and post.

Yes it was. My sister lives 80 miles from here, called my wife's cel phone, told us she was watching and what she was seeing. Wife and I found the camera and was able to wave to her. I then drove my 9-N over waved again. When I got home I had several photos captured fron the web cam.
