1-2-4-3 with number one being at the FRONT, right? You must also check the distributor, as Dan says, to make sure you know which post is number one on that end, and that the rotor is pointing at it when number one cylinder is near TDC on the compression stroke.

Sorry to come back to something you've already addressed, but you didn't provide the essential information to reassure us you had correctly checked the firing order; and the way you describe it, it sure sounds like a firing order problem.

I did a little more checking today.
I triple checked my wires first thing and found the wires to be correctly install with #1 being in front. I turned the engine over to check for TDC and the rotor firing on #1 - it seemed to be good. When I grounded an Autolite plug to the engine and cranked it over, I had some fire, but I'm not sure if it was strong enough. I tried some gas directly in the cylinder to see if I could get some sort of fire - nothing. I checked the compression on my cylinders and found this 1- 50lbs, 2-55lbs, 3-60lbs, 4-5lbs. Yes, five lbs. Do you know what normal compression shuld be on these engines? With all of the cranking, I never saw a wet plug, but I had loads of gas in the carb. Thoughts?
