A friend of mine asked me why his 8 or 9n would be getting oil in the water and if I remember correctly I heard this is a common problem with these. So, my question to the ford pros. is what is the common problem and easiest way to fix it? Thanks in advanced. Roy

What you've heard is common is water getting into the oil in the transmission/differential/hydraulic system, which is all one oil sump holding 5 gallons.

The tip-off here is that you pull the dipstick under the seat, and it looks like a malted milk.

The most common entry point for water is the boot around the gearshift lever. Many tractors live outdoors, and rain finds its way in through the boot - either loose, cracked, or torn.

Easy problem to locate. Easily fixed. Not expensive, but you need to replace the oil.

The only way any resemblance of oil in the radiator is due to a blown head gasket allowing exhaust gasses to get in the water passages of the engine, so if oil is going by the rings into the exhaust system he also has other problems, like worn out rings.
