Throttle Lever

My throttle lever will not stay in one position with the engine running. I can put it in say the half throttle position and after a minute or two of hogging it slows done considerably. I also feel a lot of resistance when accelerating. That resistance is not there when the engine is not running.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just checked the linkages are correct. While in the shop everything works fine but with tractor bouncing across the pasture the throttle backs off. It seems the new spring is too strong. It may be as Dell mentioned and the lever is worn.

Thoughts anyone?

Tex..... ..2N or 8N??? I flunked mindreading, just ask my ex-wife of 32yrs.

Both tractors have different throttle linkages but they all have some sort of "spring-loads" that need to be set to keep yer dashboard throttle pointer in the notches of the dashboard throttle quadrant.

Othertimes, the quadrant notches are worn and need to be re-notched with file. Sometime the UNDERNEATH side of the pointer "ball" needs turning or replacement.

Or you may have a "governor" problem. You don't give us much to guess with..... .Dell

Dell,

By the numbers on my engine it is a 2N. My guess is a governor problem since I just replaced it. I was not having any problems before the old governor quit working.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think you have your lever handle, governor, carb, linkages mixed up somehow.

Will the 2 linkages that go to the 2 governor arms swap from what you now have them?

I just verified the lever linkages are correct. While running the in shop everything works fine. It is just when bouncing across the pasture the throttle backs off. It is like the spring is too strong.

Thoughts,

RD

Temporary fix, super glue two pieces of fine emery cloth back to back, pry up lever and place emery tween lever and quadrant.
