Jerry; What is the status on the fire, Your side of the mountan.

We are one standby alert for evacuation as of 1 hr. ago. The houses on Joko front are now ablaze, and it looks like we might be moving out, in about an hr.

Dam, I knew it. I just got this prop. the way I want it, and we are lookin' like maybe burned out.
I hope you are fairing better over the hill.!!!!

Still here!!! Looks like the fire teams got a good lick on the fire today. They say, they got a fire break built today, for the start of containing this bad boy. That was good news!!! Yes, the fire got all the way to the lake, but they got some crews on it right away and that is pretty much cleaned up now.

I have some cabins that I security chk. for people (summer homes), and that's where I was, when you called.

Any way, mayby we are going to lick this thing after all!!!

Sean; No, I hve not heard from Jerry. He may have been evac'ed already. He had/has a pretty big fire just above him too!!!

Now the winds are at upwards to 20mph gusts, and shifting all over the place. The slurry planes are flying over, and the helos are scooping water from the lake, but it is still 0% contained.

Did you understand the map I sent ya????

Well, back to listening to the fire scanner.

See ya, I hope!!!!

Ken;
We are still here!!! The wind shifted last night and the fire seems to have changed back on itself. At any point that could change, but we are now on a 3hr. notification if we have to evacuate.
Didn't get much sleep last night!!!

Thanks for your concerns.

Gary

Gary, the Jocko Lakes fire is a new fire. Here is the latest from the Air Attack Group Supervisor over the fire.

MT-SWS Jocko Lakes Fire
There's a new kid in town and he's a big bruiser. The Jocko Lakes Fire is about 14 miles west of Seeley Lake, MT and is currently, driven by west winds, making a flying run in that direction. The fire is at least 10,000 acres in timber and is entirely a crown fire. It is also burning unabated through riparian, plantation, and clearcut fuels. Many, many structures are threatened. The State of Montana has requested FEMA assistance for this one.

The plume is visible from Missoula. More tomorrow morning on the NRCC Intel Morning Report.

Today will likely go down as the latest "Black Saturday" in Montana. All fires are burning totally unabated as wind driven crown fires. There are many, many outlying farms, ranches, and structures threatened.

Good luck buddy, but I don't have a good feeling about any fire areas in Montana right this moment.

Thanks SC;
The update is: the fire is running unabatted at approx. 1 mi. every 3 min.

Curently is 4 mi. from Seeley Lake, Mt, with no sign of slowing. We are packing up the stuff we want to save.

We are currently on 30 min. notification for evac.
Don't look good!!!!

Thanks for the concern!!

Go to:>Link
Click on "Wildfire Mapping, Locate current wildfires near you"

and then click on the Pull Down Menu to select the fire in the area you are interested. An interactive map will pop up to illustrate the areas of the fires, and you can ZOOM in/out to get a better view.
